Aging Impact Award 2022

Nominate an “Age Friendly” Business or Organization!

The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging (AAAA) is accepting nominations for their 2022 Aging Impact Award, which was established in 2021 as part of a larger statewide effort to encourage an Age-Friendly Minnesota. Past recipients include the Hibbing Parks and Recreation Department, Northwoods Credit Union in Cloquet, Super One Foods of Deer River, and Miner’s County Market in International Falls.

A July 2021 Duluth News Tribune article quotes Cook County sheriff and AAAA Advisory Committee on Aging chair Pat Eliasen: “Older adults are the fastest-growing segment of our population. Businesses that view their operations through an age-friendly lens help older adults age actively and independently, while potentially expanding customer base and revenue.”

A business or organization is eligible to receive an Aging Impact Award if it is in the 7-county Arrowhead Region (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, St. Louis) and if it positively impacts older adults by:

  • Providing an innovative service or experience that goes above and beyond day-to-day operations, or
  • Adapting or making improvements to their physical space, hiring practices, training, marketing toward older adults, and/or customer experience, or
  • Finding other creative ways to respond to the needs of their community’s seniors

You can help thank a Cook County business or organization for going “the extra mile” for older adults by submitting your nomination no later than June 30, 2022.  For more information or to make a nomination, visit arrowheadaging.org.
