Free Tax Preparation Assistance Begins in February

Once again in 2023 Cook County VITA/TCE tax assistance volunteers are ready to help anyone 60 years old or older (as well as younger income-eligible people) with their individual income tax returns. In most cases they can E-file your Federal and Minnesota tax returns.  They can also help process and E-file Minnesota homestead property tax/rent refunds for those eligible.

Please bring:

-All related  tax documents such as W-2s etc.

-Social security cards for everyone in your household who will be listed on your tax return

-Picture IDs for adults

If you prefer to drop off your tax documentation and pick up your return, you can visit: 

Cook County Community Center
Tuesdays, 9am – 3pm
February 7 – April 18

Tofte Town Hall
Tuesdays, 9am – noon
February 14 – April 18

Grand Portage Post Office
M-F 8am-4pm, Sat 8:30am-10:30am
February 1 – April 14

Or, if you prefer to meet with a volunteer in person:

Tuesdays, 9am – 3pm
February 7 – April 18
Assistance is on a first come first served basis – no appointments needed or taken. You will be asked to complete an intake form and volunteers will conduct an interview and review your documents.
