New book group from Care Partners

Let’s Reframe Aging!

All are welcome on the first Thursday of each month from 4:30-6:00pm in the lower-level classroom at Cook County Higher Education, beginning December 5th for the Reframe Aging Book Group! Read and discuss books and articles on a variety of topics related to aging, and perhaps share your own thoughts and experiences of growing older in Cook County.

Discussion will be led by Care Partners staff members Julie Wilson and Christie John. They hope participants will be encouraged to identify and challenge misconceptions about aging, as well as foster a future perspective that includes both challenge and promise.

The first book selection is ” Breaking the Age Code: How Your Beliefs About Aging Determine How Long and Well You Live” by Yale professor Dr. Becca Levy, a leading expert on the psychology of successful aging. Dr. Levy draws on her own ground-breaking research to show how age beliefs can impact all aspects of the aging process and how a positive view on aging may extend life expectancy by up to 7.5 years.

The group is open to all, and participants are welcome to join in as their interest and schedules allow. Order or purchase the book selection from Drury Lane Books and receive a 15% discount – contact Care Partners for details.
