Free Tax Preparation Assistance Begins in February
Once again in 2025 Cook County VITA/TCE tax assistance volunteers are ready to help anyone 60 years old or older (as well as younger income-eligible people) with their individual income tax returns. In most cases they can E-file your Federal and Minnesota tax returns. They can also help process and E-file Minnesota homestead property tax/rent refunds for those eligible.
Please bring:
-All related tax documents such as W-2s etc.
-Social security cards for everyone in your household who will be listed on your tax return
-Picture IDs for adults
If you prefer to drop off your tax documentation and pick up your return later, you can visit:
Tofte Town Hall
Tuesdays, 9am – noon
February 4 – April 15
Grand Portage Post Office
M-F 8am-4pm, Sat 8:30am-10:30am
February 1 – April 14
Or, if you prefer to meet with a volunteer in person:
Cook County Community Center
Tuesdays, 9am – 3pm
February 4 – April 15
Assistance is on a first come first served basis – no appointments needed or taken. Volunteers don’t leave until everyone who arrives by 3pm has been assisted. You will be asked to complete an intake form and volunteers will conduct an interview and review your documents.
