Arrowhead Library Mail-A-Book Service

  • Tax-supported service provided to rural residents, those who live in a city without a public library (or who live outside of city limits), and homebound residents 
  • Eligible patrons receive and return library materials by mail with all postage paid 
  • Catalogs listing newest materials are mailed twice a year; PDF version of catalog is also available online

Bone Builders Exercise Program

  • Free exercise program sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), designed to help individuals maintain bone mass and build on existing bone mass
  • No pre-registration required
  • Hand and leg weights available on site; no other equipment needed - just bring water and a smile

Cook County YMCA

  • Active Older Adult programs are free to YMCA members and include water fitness, strength building, stability gaining, yoga, and stretching classes.
  • Silver Sneakers program available for adults 65 and older through select Medicare plans - call (866) 584-7389 or visit the Silver Sneakers website to learn if you are eligible
  • YMCA membership or day pass provides access to facilities including indoor track, hot tub, sauna, pool,  gymnasium and showers
  • Reservations required for pool use

  • Classes taught by volunteers on a one-time or ongoing basis
  • Subjects have included yoga, tai-chi, balance, and more

  • Third Wednesday of each month, 12:30pm (after senior meal) until finished
  • Must bring your own foot basin and towel
  • Cost: $10 cash
  • Clinic staff will use the same infection control protocols that are in place at the clinic
  • Please enter and exit through the doors by the playground
  • Must pre-register by calling Sawtooth Mountain Clinic at 218-387-2330

Healthy Homes Program

  • Free home assessment to identify housing conditions that may lead to potential health conditions 
  • Assessment is available for both homeowners and renters 
  • Recommendations and education focus on reliable and practical methods to reduce health and safety risks in housing
  • Residents eligible for Medicare may receive up to $750 for home improvement supplies
  • Follow-up visits help ensure effectiveness

Northland Diabetes Support Group

  • Monthly support group provides attendees with valuable insights and practical tips from others with diabetes
  • For all people affected by Type 1, Type 2, and early onset diabetes and those in their circle of friends and family 
  • Each meeting fo­cuses on a practical issue that those with diabetes face daily, along with time for good conversation and identifying topics for fu­ture gatherings
  • Meets the first Tuesday of the month, 6-7pm, at Cook County Higher Education
  • Supported and funded by Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF)
