As part of their 2024 theme of Art + Embodiment, the Grand Marais Art Colony is collaborating with Care Partners of Cook County to explore the Art of Health through the lens of Memory Care.
“HeArt of the Caregiver” is open to anyone who finds themselves in a caregiving role, whether caring for aging loved ones near or far. Participants will share lunch together followed by an art activity using mixed media and various art materials to create their own fabric heart, incorporating personal and symbolic touches. Special instructor Erin Rafferty-Bugher will also help us gently explore our needs for personal support, reprieve and respite from the daily ongoing demands of caregiving. As an option, participants are invited to bring personal fabrics and materials such as beads, baubles, charms, ribbons, and ephemera to add onto their piece. Options for hand sewing will also be available for this activity but not required. All materials provided and no experience required. This session is free but advanced registration is required.
